Community Way - Good Causes
return to portfolio of good causes
Worcester Waterway Users Forum are seeking £2000
to provide and improve facilities, events and publicity for the local community and tourists along the River SevernThis is a project designed to provide and improve facilities, events and publicity for the local community and tourists along the river Severn. The three main water user groups are anglers, narrowboats and walkers.
ANGLING - the fishing pegs along the river Severn have fallen to disrepair, with no funds available to stop the rot. This project will involve the local clubs in improving their pegs with attractive wooden structure that will improve the look of the river banks. Money will also be used for printing, events, running competitions and prizes.
NARROWBOATS - popular with locals and tourists, but the provisions and facilities that once existed have now declined. We want to encourage boats to stop in Worcester and come back time and again. This money would be used to provide information; interpretation of Worcester and its wildlife. We want to enthuse the local community in its water course and will run "have a go days". A final project will be to adopt a mooring scheme for business’s.
WALKERS - providing an attractive and interesting walk along the river. Using local volunteers to maintain the river bank enhancing its wildlife potential. Money is required for tools and printing facilities.
