Worcester City Volunteer Bureau - Worcester Wheels Community Transport are seeking £1000 for a computerised booking system
Worcester Wheels Community Transport provides door-to-door service for disabled people who are unable to use public transport and unable to afford other means of travel. With 2 specially adapted mini buses and 30+ volunteers using their own cars, the scheme transports 300-400 people per week. Everyone involved in the project is a volunteer (apart form one P/T paid co-ordinator).
Volunteers take the bookings - usually via the phone at least 2-3 days in advance - which is then allocated to a car driver or the mini-bus, clients can use the services to attend hospital, chiropody & doctor’s appointments, go shopping, visit friends, go to the hairdressers - in fact anywhere they wish (as long as we have the capacity). Clients must however register with the scheme and have evidence of a disability.
The funds would be used to purchase a specific, tailored computer system to aid bookings & allocation of journeys.
