Acorns Children's Hospice - Are seeking funds to build a new hospice in Worcester
Acorns is the only children's Hospice in the West Midlands and we offer help to life-limited children and their families. Any child from birth to 19 years of age is eligible for the service and there is no charge.
Acorns offers families practical help and emotional support 24 hours a day at home as well as the backup of respite, palliative care at the hospice. In addition to Acorns Selly Oak Hospice, Acorns Walsall has been completed this year adding 11 beds and special facilities for teenagers.
This year has been Acorns 10th anniversary and over 700 families have so far been helped by the care team, some for a few weeks and others for several years. However, we still help only one third of those who need us, making the development of new facilities a priority.
Many of the children who come to Acorns suffer from genetically determined conditions and they may become severely disabled as they grow.
Acorns is a Registered Charity and depends largely on donations.
