Friends of Worcester Citizens Advice Bureau are seeking £20,000 for a new telephone system and computer software
The Friends of Worcester CAB were established in May 1998 to raise funds to support the work of the local Bureau currently based in St. Nicholas Street. The Bureau, itself an independent charity, relies upon grants and gifts to fund its primary work of giving free independent advice to everybody regardless of age, social class, gender, ethnic origin, sexuality or disability. The role of the Friends is to finance those additional things critical to maximising the work of the volunteer advisors, for example new technology, which cannot be funded by other means.
This year the Friends have undertaken to raise £15,000 to assist the Bureau in its move to larger new office premises in the Hopmarket. This money will be used to purchase a new telephone system & software programmes to improve the service to the Bureau's clients.
Last year the Worcester Bureau dealt with 20,000+ enquiries. All its running costs are met from grants & gifts voluntarily given.
There is no government funding provided to support the work of the local Bureau.
