The aim of Streets Ahead was to set up as a charity to cater for the young people on the estate of Dines Green, to encourage them to channel their thinking from negative towards positive activity and self images, and to discourage them from juvenile crime. The feedback from the community and local police is that the young people have more to do and the knock on effect is a recognised decrease in public order offences, vandalism and petty crime.
The project has now become a victim of its own success with the costs rising all the time; we now have tenancy of a building in Gresham Road as our base. We are catering for between 25-30 young people at each session; we also help subsidise activities as many young people are unable to pay the small fee’s we charge. We are now able to offer youth provision 6 days a week with a range of activities

It is with some pride that we can say we are achieving our objectives and with continued financial support we can continue to work with the youth of Dines Green. Participating in community way is helping us to do this.
